“They make me feel…” Dazai started speaking, but then paused, starting to draw patterns into Atsushi’s arm. After a few minutes, Dazai continued, extremely reluctant.
“They make me feel safe.” Dazai mumbled, and Atsushi’s enhanced hearing could just barely catch it. Atsushi’s breath hitched.

Summary
Dazai finds the care his student is giving him annoying.
So annoying in fact, that he decided to just let the boy do whatever he pleased. Surely he would get bored rather quick and leave Dazai alone. Surely.
But....what happens when he starts liking the attention he's getting?
OR
Did he want this annoying werebeast to stay? Did he want his student to amuse him further?
Or perhaps he was just lonely.
He should invest more time finding people to warm his bed at night so he doesn't find himself pulling stunts like these.
Atsushi seemed to accept his blank stare as an answer to the unspoken question, and found himself sighing as he sat by Dazai's feet on the couch.
"I don't know how to help you." The boy admitted into the silence, sparing him a glance. One like the many he saw from before. Full of concern and genuine sympathy. Something that Dazai couldn't deal with.
"You can't." He rolled his eyes, as he pulled his knees up to his chest and curled up, embarrassing himself further most likely but finding it hard to care.

Summary
In which Akutagawa and Atsushi are high school seniors, and Akutagawa is chronically ill. What happens when you fall in love with someone who is out of time?
*rivals/one-sided hate to friends to lovers would be more accurate than “enemies to lovers”
*I’m basing this AU off of the American school system because it’s easier to write about what I know. Here’s your basic info:
Atsushi is still an orphan like in the canon, but in this AU he was able to go to school while living in the orphanage. How? Don’t know. It’s irrelevant to the plot. He lives on his own by the time the story starts.
Akutagawa is 20, but he is also a high school senior. Due to his lung disease, he spent a lot of time in the hospital and was held back two years for missing so much school. Nobody besides his sister and closest friend know the real reason for why he missed so much school. He and his sister live alone.
Dazai is a teacher in this AU. He plays an important role in this story.
Tanizaki is Atsushi's best friends, and Kyouka is like a little sister to him.
Chuuya is Akutagawa’s best friend. He is one of the two people who know about Akutagawa’s condition. He already graduated and is working at a flower shop.Series
