What if Tech survived the fall at the end of Season 2 and was turned into CX-2 by Hemlock? What if he then survived being skewered by Hunter at the end of Season 3? Takes place after the events of Season 3 of the Bad Batch.
“Perfect. What’s your designation?” the doctor asked, picking up his datapad once more.
Without hesitation, CX-2 said, “CT-9902.”
As soon as the numbers had left his lips, CX-2 knew they were wrong.
“I’m sorry, can you repeat that?” The doctor frowned. “CT…?”
CX-2 frowned. That wasn’t his designation. “I meant CX-2. I…must have gotten confused.”
The doctor’s expression softened. “That is completely understandable. Electrocution often messes with the victim’s neurological system. It was barely more than a whisper, but he almost couldn’t bring himself to ask in the first place. The question scared him, the coming answer he feared even more. He knew the question was callous and loaded, but he had to know.
Those warm eyes faltered and became reproachful, they averted with a look of guilt, his eyebrows scrunching together. Viktor hugged his good knee tighter to his chest, his short and shallow breathing and his tightened lips betraying the hurt he felt at the question. The creases at the side of his nose deepened in dismay in the way only Viktor's face suited. All of these things told Jayce everything he needed desperately to know; this wasn’t the serene herald, or even the maniacal machine herald.
