"When anxious, Shane's palms become unbearably itchy. His at home shower routine has adapted to include copious amounts of moisturizing lotion to combat how his skin has become volatile, side effect of a new anxiety medication. Applying the lotion, he meticulously starts with his feet, working up past his ankles and legs, to his hips, then his stomach and chest, ending at his neck and behind his ears. It's methodical; intentionally repetitive for the sake of control, order. And yet, when anxiety rears her ugly head, placing stones in his stomach and trapping air in his lungs, his palms itch. So he scratches."
Shane Hollander doesn't like when he feels out of control. He likes even less feeling like a burden. Ilya Rozanov doesn't see him as that.

Summary
"That smell, I know that smell." Ilya is visibly confused but his pupils have dilated slightly, his body catching on before his brain can catch up. "Is that—? What are you wearing?"
"It's just cologne. I thought that's what people did before this kind of thing." Shane puts his hands in his pockets and tries to look casual. He is absolutely not going to laugh at the bewildered look on Ilya's face.
"What kind of thing? What are you talking about?"
"You know. Before meeting up like this." He swallows. Squares his shoulders. "I mean, I gave you my room number. I told you I wasn't a chicken."
He can pinpoint the exact moment that it clicks into place for Ilya what is happening. His mouth falls open. "You… it's— Hollander," he exhales. His eyes have gone almost entirely black and his breathing is ragged.
Shane leans back against the door and tilts his chin down, looking up at Ilya through his eyelashes. "This is such a bad idea."

Scent is a pretty strong memory trigger. Shane finds the cologne he wore the night they first met up in Room 1410, and decides a do-over might be fun.

Summary
Shane and Ilya are camp counselors at a grief summer camp for kids. They're paired together for the first time to be responsible for a group of kids experiencing the same grief they did at a similar age. There are many things they don't know about each other anymore but the one thing Shane knows about adult Ilya is that they won't get along. But who knows, maybe some close quarters will change things for both of them.
