Summary
Regulus Black is a qualified neurology doctor and training to become a neurosurgeon at only 23. Having moved back to London to escape his parents after they moved to France when he was 15, Regulus is doing fine. He’s qualified, he’s already progressing his career, has a great set of friends, and is building a solid reputation as one of London’s best young doctors. He hasn’t spoken to Sirius since his older brother ran away over seven years ago and he doesn’t care, because he doesn’t speak to any of his family anymore and after all, Sirius was the one who left him behind.
And then James Potter walks in to the ward one day to give his mother some lunch, claiming that all hospital food is an abomination, and everything comfortable in Regulus’ life comes crashing down.

Despite the surname, Regulus has done everything to successfully fly under the radar during his first five years at Hogwarts. He has one friend, spends all his free time with his nose in a book or doing his homework in the library, and his only ambition in life is to open his own bookstore after graduating from Hogwarts.
Regulus loves his quiet, boring life. Then James Potter seems to remember he exists at the beginning of his sixth year, and his quiet life is, albeit with good intentions, shattered in a classic Marauder Storm.

Summary
Life didn't get any easier after Sirius ran away like everyone is eager to believe. It only gets worse when Regulus is too smart for his own good and gets shoved into seventh year potions and charms classes with his estranged brother and his merry band of imbeciles.
The downfall of Regulus' sixth year starts with accidentally befriending the infamous Gryffindor Princess Lily Evans when they're paired for a transfiguration project. He should have prepared himself that by befriending one Gryffindor, the rest will follow.
The worst: James Potter.

When he's 13, he befriends a blue haired boy called Teddy, whom over the years becomes the closest of friends Harry could have asked for.
At 16, Harry is getting on with his life just fine. He's got two jobs, college, a great group of friends and an endless supply of cigarettes to keep his hands from uncontrollably shaking. And then, Teddy's parents announce they're coming down for the week and suddenly Harry has people coming up to him saying he's supposed to be dead and that a Dark Lord is after him.
