Startled, the boy turned to see Lucas who was wheeling his bike out, through the driveway, looking like a deer caught in headlights.
“Lucas?”
“What are you doing outside? It's already dark,” Lucas started pushing his bike over to the brunette. “No talking to strangers, remember.”
Will huffed a laugh at that. “Even Nan Scottie from across the street has left town. There’s barely anyone here to talk to.”
“I know that’s right,” Lucas left his bike to sit down on the porch next to Will. “Everything good, dude?”
Will shrugged, not wanting to respond dishonestly but also not wanting to get into it. It being his inopportune feelings for someone in their friend group. So he ungraciously switched topics, nodding towards the bike. “Heading anywhere? You looked kind of in a hurry.”

“Poor guy,” Tsumiki muttered as she watched the pair walk off, Nobara already loudly singing Maki’s praises to a new, unsuspecting victim. Yuuji turned around and waved, the dark circles under his eyes almost intense enough to dull the bright shine of his smile as he looked at Megumi.
“Why? Because he’s stuck listening to Nobara’s lesbian rants and too nice to tell her to shut the fuck up or because half of his friends were brutally murdered in a gruesome, unsolved killing spree?” Megumi asked, tightening the straps of his backpack. Tsumiki sighed and turned to start walking towards their sixth period English class.

Death is warm, Satoru realizes.
It’s akin to being in your mother’s arms, drinking hot chocolate on a winter night, or sleeping under the covers when it’s raining.
Exceptionally delightful. Especially after you’d just used your own body to seal a certain guy with four arms away. As unpleasant as that was, at least he had fun.
So what now? Should he keep drifting in this pleasant space forever, relish in this newfound peace and ignore that unmarred white door in the middle of nowhere?
It looks suspicious as hell, then again, what has he got to lose, really?
