He looked at the charcoal smudge again. It was so distinctly Will. It was like finding a fingerprint at a crime scene, only the crime was Mike’s rapidly disintegrating sanity.
He should close the tab. He should absolutely, one hundred percent close the tab, clear his browser history, burn the laptop, and maybe move to a monastery in Tibet where the wifi was spotty. He should walk into Will’s room right now and say... what?

In which, Mike Wheeler thinks he knows everything about his roommate and childhood best friend, Will. He knows Will likes his coffee black, hates the texture of anything remotely slimy, and is surprisingly good at keeping secrets. But when Mike stumbles upon a cam model named 'Lee' who films in a room that looks suspiciously familiar, he realizes he doesn't know Will nearly as well as he thought. “We have to kill him,” Mike finishes fiercely, and for a second, Will pictures him in full paladin gear, making the same speech in a castle, or a magical forest, or a dark dungeon. He’s every bit the boy Will’s always known, the one who stands up for his friends and his principles and never, ever backs down. Even when the odds are against them. Even when they’re impossible.
Will swears that he can feel electricity crackling in the air, Mike’s last sentence settling on the group like a physical weight. Everyone looks impressed: Jonathan, Hopper, even Owens. Will knows the look on his own face must be incredibly obvious, incredibly stupid.
He doesn’t care. That’s the Mike he knows. That’s the Party’s leader.
That’s the boy Will fell in love with.

Will dropped his head into his hands. “Mike, oh my god—”
Paladin Mike’s jaw tightened. “I do not own him,” he said immediately. “He is—” He stopped, swallowing. His eyes went back to Will softening, and that softness made Mike hate him even more. He could recognize the look, and saw it mirrored in his own eyes countless times.

“Oh my god.” Will flushed, impossibly. “That is crazy. He is actually crazy."
Max, who had been standing with her arms crossed behind them, muttered, “Jesus Christ,” under her breath.
Mike Wheeler is going to explode, because there is an alternate, armoured version of him, following Will Byers around like he belonged to him.
