Summary
Throughout the years, Garrus finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, injured for whatever reason. After all, in his line of work, you have to expect the usual minor (or sometimes major) flesh wound. At least he has one constant in Shepard, always there to tell him to patch it up.
(Four times Garrus is injured in front of Shepard, and one time the roles are reversed. A relationship progression shown through injuries.)

Shepard has had Garrus' back from the beginning, defending him against the hostilities of a biased Rear Admiral, and coming down hard on the prejudices of a human crew during the first few weeks of her command. The Normandy is a symbol of interspecies cooperation and Shepard is driven to uphold that.
Then a ghost from Garrus' past resurfaces: a salarian geneticist who has changed his name and started...branching out in his research. Shepard now has to fight to keep her new ally from straying down a renegade path - but can anyone stand between an angry turian and his quarry?
