Summary
Harry Potter is seventeen when he dies and somehow finds himself in a train station. He listens to Dumbledore explain all the things he wishes he knew before, sits in King's Cross, and wonders if he really has to go back. Harry's very, very tired, and he wishes it wasn't so simple: die and move on or go back to a world that you don't know how to survive. Killing Voldemort is swell and all, but he's not much looking forward to everything after that. To grieving, growing, loving, living.
Considering the ticket in his hands, Harry decides that he's tired of going along with decisions other people make for him. This is his party, his train station, his choice. Why not make it a happier one? One that makes everything so far worth living through. He rubs at the ticket and watches it change with satisfaction. Hogwarts to Godric's Hollow, October 31st, 1981. King's Cross Station, one-way ticket.
And because he's Harry Potter, he does the unthinkable. He gives the ticket to his godfather.
In which Sirius Black wakes up in 1981, nothing makes sense, and magic can make the impossible possible.

This fic slammed me straight in the heartstrings. I cried and it was good.
Sirius is wonderful in this one. I’m glad he comes back with all of the memories and none of the Dementor damage. It makes for a very interesting character study.The fic stops before Harry’s first year at Hogwarts, but the author lays out clearly the steps being taken to prevent the hell that was the OG timeline.

Very much not a slowburn and absolutely glorious. I read so many slowburns that I sometimes forget how nice it is when the pairing gets together near the beginning. This was a very pleasant reminder.
Full of good food, good vibes, good fluff and spice, with a helping of emotional turmoil that they come out the other side of all the stronger for having survived.
I’m not sure I’ve read a fic in which Hermione’s a widow, but this one’s convinced me that it can be a good idea. Her 4 year old daughter Rose is absolutely adorable (^ω^)
Ginny is the greatest friend. Fiery and supportive, she keeps Hermione on track and helps in so many ways. Love her -

Hermione Granger knew about time-travel and time-turners as a third year. When everything goes wrong at the Battle of Hogwarts, and nearly everyone she loves dies, Hermione discovers that not only is time-travel possible within her world but across worlds as well.
Suddenly thrown back to 1978 and into a world that is no longer her own, Hermione has a chance to rewrite history, because while terrible things happen to Witches and Wizards who mess with time, she doesn't think that applies to a Universe where she never existed in the first place.
Never one to back down from a fight, Hermione is going to make this new world a better place. She's going to take down Voldemort, avoid an ever Manipulative Dumbledore, and she's going to do so alongside an equally war-battered George Weasley and Draco Malfoy, and maybe with the help of a young Severus Snape.

Fascinating take on time/dimensional travel. I like that Hermione has companions this time. Hermione, Draco, George, and Severus make for a surprisingly good and interesting dynamic. It’s fundamentally different from the golden trio in a very interesting way.
Incomplete as of 12/19/25. It is exceedingly rare that I start unfinished fics, but I’m glad I took a chance on this one. It’s *well* worth the read.

The universe that Harry, Hermione, Neville and Luna come from is truly utterly absolutely tragic, but the one they come to is fascinating.
In another fic (I wish I remembered which one. Prince of Slytherin maybe?), either Harry or a house elf (I think) locked Severus and Sirius in a room and refused to let them out until they worked through their differences. It was determined that Sirius and Severus would’ve been besties had Sirius been sorted into Slytherin. I firmly agree, so to see that solidified in this fic is awesome.
One small difference, even something as simple as meeting someone different on the train in their first year, can change Everything.The ending is a little vague, but it ties everything together into something that is as close to a happy ending as people as broken as the quartet can get.
