Summary

Fukuzawa pursues what happiness he can by studying philosophy and working at Waseda University. Mori, the only son, is the unwilling heir to his father's company. When degree requirements cause their paths to converge, through intelligent conversation and shared interests in theory, they each find someone to be human with. Eventual romance ensues.
Set in the same AU as A Drop of Black Coffee in the Pot, but starts way, way before that.

“I guess,” Dazai mumbled. As a friend, he wanted to add, but no! Not even that! They weren’t friends. Dazai hated Fyodor—they were only doing this because, well… Enough forced proximity could do that to a person. Being roommates with someone this irritating could do that to a person.
What was the old saying? Keep your friends close and passionately kiss your enemies while they jerk you off? Yeah, that sounded about right.
