"Hey," Uenoyama spits, throwing his current guitar pick at Akihiko's head. It soars through the air, its sleek glossy red finish catching the fluorescent lights overhead before it pings off Akihiko's shoulder. The other man doesn't even bother trying to dodge it, just arches his eyebrows and grins, just a little. "I didn't come up with this alone! Mafuyu, tell him!"
"The bit before where the chorus goes is based off the riffs Haruki was warming up with that last week." Mafuyu also adds, "he let me pick out the chords for the opening too. Does that count?"
"Congratulations," Akihiko says dryly, ignoring Mafuyu's statement completely, "you've made him even cockier than he already was."
"He has not," Uenoyama shouts, the pitch of his voice climbing an octave, loud enough to make Haruki wince.
Mafuyu gives Akihiko the same smile that always makes Hiiragi snarl about how he's a little shit and answers, "that's okay, I like it when he's cocky."
Uenoyama makes a noise that is only barely within the range of human hearing, carefully lifts his guitar from over his head to drop it in a guitar stand, and then drops on the ground to curl up in a ball.

“Uenoyama-kun.”
Under soft covers, Mafuyu is curled up towards him. Kedama, the over energetic pup, is quiet for once as he sleeps on his owner’s chest. Mafuyu looks even softer than usual with his half-dried hair, face drowsy from his earlier bath, wearing Uenoyama’s clothes that are a bit loose for him.
Uenoyama just hums as an answer and doesn’t stop toweling his wet hair, because he’s sure butterflies will come out flying if he opens his mouth.

Mafuyu sucks in a quick breath, he’s been building up the courage to have this conversation for a few days now and if he backs out he may never work up the nerve to try again. He just hates that it’s so awkward to bring up.
“No, I mean sex. Is it different with different people?”

"Ritsuka ran a hand through the other’s hair, slowly, so as to not startle him. His eyes opened slowly. He blinked once, twice and then there it was. That look, with eyes drained of emotion. The one he had witnessed way too many times. It made Ritsuka feel as if Mafuyu was looking at somewhere else instead of him, or someone else.
A question, a certain concern that had been bugging him for days was louder than ever. He dreaded even vocalizing it, let alone hearing the answer. But he felt that he could not keep it in anymore."

“Buttercup…?” Mafuyu asks in a muted shock.
“Yeah, just a nickname I thought for you.” Uenoyama replies gruffly while his mind screams aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. “I can drop it if you want.”
“Don’t.” Mafuyu quickly says, sounding almost… panicked. “I liked it. You can call me ‘buttercup’, Uenoyama-kun.”
“Oh. Cool.”
“Hm.”
They quietly sit on the floor with red faces until their bandmates come back.

Before Ue had even noticed, they were walking into the bakery. The sudden blast of warmth from the heater and tinkling of the bell startled him out of his thoughts.
“What flavor do you want?” Mafuyu asked.
“Oh, um… you choose. I’m fine with whatever.” Uenoyama rubbed the back of his neck and looked away.
“Okay!” Mafuyu approached the counter and asked for two slices of Black Forest cake to go. The cashier handed him a plastic bag not long after. Uenoyama pulled out his wallet to pay for his half, but Mafuyu shook his head.
“My treat,” he said. Ue froze, a thousand-yen bill in his hand, and blinked at him. Mafuyu headed for the door, bag in hand and a small smile on his face. Ue quickly shoved his wallet back in his school bag and hurried to follow him.Bookmarked by eri17
