"I'm glad I went," Mike murmurs near Will's ear.
"Had fun?" Will asks playfully.
"Oh, yeah," Mike stretches sarcastically.
They stay like that for a little longer than necessary, then reluctantly separate, still looking at each other. Will can't hold the eye contact for long, and turns away, biting down a smirk.
"Goodnight, then," he breathes out.
"Yeah. Goodnight," Mike nods nervously and smiles. That same stupid dorky smile.

The Party have one last fun summer together before moving away, everyone is alive and happy and in love and stupid.

Summary
““Will-” Mike whispered, years of sadness and loss and a million other things Will couldn’t understand splaying across his face. Will gently pulled away his hand, something tearing deep inside him as he did. It was the hardest thing to do, to leave that warmth behind.
“I’m a little tired now,” he said, voice thick with unshed tears, not daring to look at Mike, knowing that if he did, nothing would stop him from doing something they would both regret. He walked back across the room and sat on the edge of the bed. For a moment Mike just stood where they’d been, unmoving. Will had to use every shred of energy he had left not to get up and go to him. Mike’s shoulders dipped in resignation as he slowly turned around. The darkness masked his expression, but the silence was enough.
For them, Will supposed, silence had always been enough. It would always have to be.”Or: After Nevada, things are not the same. Mike is confusing, though this is not exactly new. Still, there is an earnestness; an honesty that wasn’t there before. Electric glances, small confessions: nothing feels as simple as it used to. Timing, it seems, has never been on Will's side. Or... has it?
