Appa licked Zuko, knocking off his hat and leaving him dripping. Zuko quickly grabbed his hat and slammed it back on his head but the damage was done—the Avatar had recognized him.
“I can’t believe it,” Aang breathed, staring at Zuko wide-eyed.
Zuko stared back, trying to decide if he could make the jump out the window. The drop would be pretty steep, but he really didn’t want to fight off the Avatar in their new apartment with its nice furniture and Uncle’s tea collection in the corner and—

but now he’s my friend.”Izumi gasped loudly when Sokka finished his haiku. She pulled a startled Momo back under the blankets defensively and said, accusingly, “You were gonna eat Momo?”
“Only because I was really hungry,” said Sokka.
“Then starve,” Izumi said seriously. She pulled Druk out of the blankets. “Would you eat Druk?”
“Of course not! He eats me! Here, listen to this:
Druk is a baby,
and yet wow he sure can bite.
My toes are not snacks.”“Druk doesn’t bite!” Zuko defended the tiny dragon. Sokka looked pointedly at Zuko’s hands, which were covered in tiny bite marks. Zuko crossed his arms to hide his hands, but Druk decided his crossed arms would make a good sleeping spot and wiggled away from Izumi to lay in Zuko’s arms. As soon as he laid down, he nudged Zuko’s arm up and started nibbling on Zuko’s thumb.

The door had barely shut behind Raoul and Gustave when the opera ghost appeared behind Christine. She knew he was there before she saw him - the lights flickered and she felt so cold the skin of her arms rose in goosebumps.
“I’m afraid I won’t be performing tonight,” Christine said without turning. “Miss Giry will sing in my place. She has a beautiful voice. She could use a tutor as you once taught me.”
The opera ghost didn’t speak. Christine went to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear, but his hand caught her wrist. She stayed there a moment, hand suspended at the level of her eyes.
“I’ll be returning home with my husband and our son-”
“My son,” the opera ghost cut her off.
Christine yanked her wrist out of his grip and spun to face him. “Perhaps you should have thought about that before suggesting a cruel wager with my husband while he was drunk.”

Somehow, no one recognized Peter at the ancient ice cream parlor in Brooklyn that Steve had chosen. Steve’s idea of a disguise was an old Black Sabbath t-shirt that Morgan had dug up, an unbuttoned flannel shirt two sizes too big that sort of smelled like a thrift store but Steve swore he’d owned for thirty years, and an MIT baseball cap from the 80s that Morgan had had in her dress-up box.
Happy was standing in front of his car outside the ice cream parlor when they left.
“Happy?” Peter blinked at the man, who had his arms crossed. “Why are you here?”
“Didn’t May tell you to stay out of trouble?”
“No one recognized me!” Peter protested. “Steve and Morgan are great at disguises.”
“Uh-huh. So that’s why there’s a video making the rounds on Twitter of someone in a flannel shirt and a baseball cap webbing two robbers to a wall outside a bodega and then high-fiving the police who showed up. It was such a good disguise, people are calling him Flannel Man, Brooklyn’s new hero.”
“Really?”
“No. Get in the car.”

None of the national, standardized tests were supposed to happen this month and even being two minutes late to one of those wouldn’t elicit this sort of reaction. They were discussing their career interest forms today, but that was it. Nothing time-critical was supposed to be happening.
“Midoriya, you were reported missing a week ago. No one has seen you for eight days. The police have been combing the city for you.”
"I’m sorry. What?”
Midoriya Izuku went missing for a week and turned up in a back alleyway with skills he's never even heard of and no memory of how he came by them. He resigns himself to never learning the truth of what happened to him, but he shouldn't waste this chance should he? He could become a hero with reflexes like these.

Midoriya Izuku is medically quirkless, not technically homeless, perpetually exhausted and doing his damned best despite it all. He also sees spirits, which might be cool if not for the fact that a) no one else does, b) they really don't like him very much, and c) he's pretty sure the heroes now think he's a villain working for the League.
Aizawa Shota just wants to take down Overhaul, rescue Eri, keep his students alive, get some rest, and find out how this Deku kid knows things he absolutely should not know about his personal life and the Shie Hassaikai case.
Unless Nighteye's right, and the kid really is a villain.
