The air was thick and suddenly it was like Will could taste ozone at the back of his tongue, like electricity was coating his mouth and didn’t leave any room to breathe, to think, and his voice was wobbly, uncertain, as he said, “what do you mean… other boys?”

Before he can think twice, Mike’s typing out and sending a message, then throwing his phone on the bed and walking away while he shakes his hands out. He’s suddenly full of nervous energy, thrumming through his veins, and he’s terrified and anxious and - and thrilled, all at once, and he’s feeling so much that he doesn’t know what to do with it.
He hears his phone vibrate twice in reply and punches one of his pillows, just for good measure.
His heart is beating like he just skydived from space, or something equally as adrenaline-inducing, and he’s a little embarrassed that his body is reacting this way to a boy, but at the same time he’s losing his mind and Will seems to be reciprocating, so what does he care? They’re losing their minds together.mike and will are stuck in the talking stage and mike's really very normal about it. he's also normal about trying to find a way to hang out with will over the holidays.

Mike fucked up.
He knows he’s fucked up the second it happens. He knew he was fucking up even in the moments leading up to it, but honestly he couldn’t bring himself to care— not when the only thing he felt was self-hatred and ice-cold pain, freezing his heart until it numbed to nothingness. He feels nothing still, minutes past the point of no return.

Mike left out one important detail when talking to Will about his depressive episodes— an ugly, horrible detail that should have stayed buried in the past. Mike just had to go dig it up.

Will was all out of excuses to keep avoiding Mike. He didn’t think he’d be strong enough to keep avoiding Mike either way - not with Mike calling him everyday- but this feels entirely too soon, the memories still fresh. Will feels that if he even thinks about Mike he could feel the phantom of Mike’s fingers digging into his hips, his lips pressing into Wills’ pulse, the thickness of his hair between Wills’ fingers.
The Wheeler’s front door opens on its own, and Will jumps from where he’s standing, letting out a small yelp in surprise.
