Once again, it's with the company of his best friend, James Potter, but instead of the walls of a boarding school surrounding him, it is this time in their own flat above a tattoo shop where Sirius is going to work. Sirius is ready for London; for the adventure. What he didn't expect to happen, was Remus Lupin.
Remus Lupin is twenty-five, uses a cane, and lives in a flat with his best friend, Lily Evans, in the building where he also works in a record shop. When Sirius Black steps into the shop on a boring October day, the last thing Remus expects is for his whole world to change even more than it already has; but as it turns out, it can. Sirius Black has that effect on people.

September 1982
The war is over. Voldemort was defeated on October 31, 1981. Regulus Black discovered Voldemort’s horcruxes and informed the Order of the Phoenix, which destroyed them. When Voldemort arrived on Halloween to kill baby Harry, the Order was standing by, ready to kill him first.
Almost a year later, the Marauders and their friends are rebuilding their lives.

Mary starts laughing, so hard that tears start streaming down her face. “Sirius Black? In Gryffindor?” She slowly stops laughing and wipes the tears from her eyes. “Now that would be a sight for sore eyes.”
“Mary, you’re not going to believe me,” Remus starts, his breathing getting heavier. “Not in a million years.”
“Hurry the fuck up and say what you’re going to say,” Mary says, concern growing on her face. “Who’s to say I won’t believe you?”
A pause.
“I don’t think I’m supposed to be here,” admits Remus.

Summary
Sirius has made a point to never learn the names of anyone in other Houses. There was no need to, in his astute opinion. Everyone who was not in Gryffindor must lack some intrinsic qualities which would therefore make them utterly intolerable as companions. And the Marauders - all three of them - did not need any intolerable fourths, thank you very much.
i.e, Remus is a Ravenclaw Prefect and Sirius is finding it harder and harder to admit he isn't obsessed with him

He looked at Sirius sharply, and for once, matched his grin. “Yeah.”
“Maybe that’s my excuse then,” Sirius said. “I cause a bit of chaos now, and maybe one day, it’ll turn into rock and roll.”After losing his mother at age eleven, Remus has spent the better part of the last four years bouncing from school to school or else running around London and pretending as though he wasn't the kind of well-bred boy his father brought him up to be. Now, with his chances all run out, Remus is sent to Hawkings Independent School as a last-ditch effort to clean up his act. There he meets the very people who will set up the rest of his life, and is forced to confront the pieces of himself he'd long thought had been lost.
