"In John's defense, there really was bus trouble.
He might've still been able to call into KMSU, sure, but he'd have been far more stressed than he'd prefer to be, he wouldn't have given the questions the time they deserved— and who knows if he'd have gotten a call from the mechanic in the middle of the interview?
At least, those were the reasons he had prepared in case anyone pestered him about why bus problems prevented a phone call. They didn't need to know that Dan was the one to call the mechanic, or that Flans was too busy stifling moans of pleasure while pressed against the wall of a particularly nice café bathroom to consider joining the program that afternoon."
