The song wound to its end, and Riku heard the tiniest intake of breath.
“Good evening, Daybreak Town,” Sora said, voice as soothing as ever. Riku didn’t realize he’d stopped moving until he caught a flicker of lightning, jolting him. Moments later thunder rumbled, and Sora laughed. “Another rainy night, huh?”

Summary
Solheim was the height of civilization long enough that their ruins were ruins over 2000 years ago, and still had the power to function in the time of the King of Light. They should've realized something was very wrong the minute Prompto remarked on the lights being on, and yet no one was home.
Prompto didn’t notice his foot press down upon one of the circles, but he did feel the flare underneath his boot and the surprised yelp as the world lit up red around him. He had a second to shout, “Uh, guys?!” before the world tilted sideways.
“Prompto!” Ignis shouted back, but then everything shattered not unlike the few times when Noctis decided to drag Prompto off in a warp in the past.

It’s the most vivid, detailed dream Ignis has ever had, as though it’s a sight he curated carefully for years and years in order to recall at the drop of a hat. Well into adulthood, he still has that dream every now and then; a dream of himself, very small, and that boy, even smaller, and their two hands joined.
It’s one of his most treasured memories, for all that it isn’t really a memory at all.
