Summary
Fall Out Boy just saved the world. Not in some nebulous future, not metaphorically: Fall out Boy stopped the apocalypse, sent the monsters back to hell, and brought most of the music industry back from the dead.
Incidentally, Pete also just brought Andy, Joe, and Patrick back from the dead.
As heroes among heroes, as saviors of the known world, and as an a band making a triumphant return, everything is turning up Fall Out Boy. Absolutely nothing can go wrong from here on out, not while Fall Out Boy is entering their happily ever after era.

Pete turns twenty-one on a Thursday. He's off-planet by Saturday afternoon.
He takes a bag of old, sturdy clothes he'd carefully bought from the second hand stores near the port, a brand new datachip registered to as different a name as he had been able to convince the banking bot to accept and the expensive real paper notebook and ink pen his grandmother had given him for his birthday.
Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz III vanishes on his way to class and Pete Lewis signs up as crew on the first interstellar trip that will take him.

He’s terrifying.
He’s also beautiful.
Water rushes from the boy’s mouth when he speaks. “You can hear me. Stop pretending you can’t, asshole. Please.”

Andy deflates, takes a deep breath and says, “I saw some people in the audience at the show tonight. They're hunters and I'm like ninety percent sure they're following us right now.”
All the air gets sucked out of the car.
“Hunters?” Pete asks, “Wh- like, werewolf hunters?”
Andy nods.
“How do you know?” Joe demands, “Maybe you're wrong!”
Andy shakes his head, “They're family friends. That's why I recognize them.”
“I'm sorry,” Pete says, “Not only are we being hunted but you know the hunters!?”
“My family knows the hunters!” He yells back.
“Doesn't change the fact that we're being hunted!”
“Andy,” Patrick whispers, immediately shutting them up, “Are you sure?”
“I am.”
Patrick begins taking shaking, panicked breaths, before managing to get out, “I don't wanna die.”
Or, It's a full moon and the band is being chased by hunters. It gets intense.

“I wasn’t trying to move,” Pete mumbles - but his complaint is half-hearted at best. For a moment, he lets the weight of his head rest on Patrick’s hand, and then he shifts back to a more correct posture, and lowers his shoulders. “Anyways - back to how you were totally in love with me in high school-”
It tumbles out like a joke, like Pete’s not being serious at all so it shouldn’t matter - Pete wouldn’t laugh if he knew, so - Patrick’s long-held suspicions were right, and Pete, in fact, does not know.
Pete asks Patrick to braid his hair before a show, and the chat that happens while Patrick's playing with Pete's hair brings about some long overdue confessions.

Summary
Even after like, barely 24 hours, he misses Patrick. It feels too embarrassing to even admit out loud, let alone to Patrick. Pete knows all he has to do is text or Facetime and Patrick would probably answer, but it feels - goofy. Childish. Clingy.
Patrick should be asleep anyways, because it’s late and he should be resting since he’s still feeling under the weather. So - instead, Pete’s laying across the bed in the wrong direction, his head dangling off one end, flicking through his phone gallery for all the candids he’s been snapping of Patrick when he’s not paying attention.
It’s funny, the number of times he’s done almost the exact same thing all through his life: laying around missing Patrick.
Midway through tour, Pete has to go back to LA for the iHeart awards and leave Patrick back with the touring crew. This should be super fine and normal but - somehow, after barely 24 hours apart, Pete still finds a way to miss him. Patrick facetimes him. It helps.

“You’re supposed to have all the answers, right?” he asked the toy lightheartedly, biting his lip in thought as he eyed it, as if waiting for an answer without shaking the thing. And as if it did give an answer, one he couldn’t see but somehow felt, Pete continued.
Of course, Pete would be consulting a stupid toy from his childhood for an answer to this very adult problem. Instead of using any actual coping skills or tools of complex communication he and his therapist spoke about every other week, he was using the Magic 8 Ball. Jokingly or not, he was almost positive this was one of his lower points of the last five years.Or, Pete's struggling to put himself out in the world again, and the universe has a funny way of guiding him on what to do about it. And maybe helping him realize a few other things along the way too.
