    Summary

There’s no prize to perfection. It’s what Viktor mutters to himself when there's a project he’s working on he just can’t seem to get right.

Those words are meant to be comforting - except now, standing in the freezing cold, waiting for his boyfriend to pick the perfect Christmas tree, Jayce thinks there will be a price to perfection, and it might be his fingers, because if he'll stand here any longer, he’s gonna lose them to frostbite. [...]

“That one,” Viktor says, finally, after twenty minutes of almost meditative contemplation. He’s pointing at the largest tree the booth has to offer.

“Vik, this tree is taller than me.” It’s quite the feat considering Jayce himself is two metres tall.

    “I know. That's why it's perfect.”

“It doesn’t fit into our apartment.”

“We’ll put it on the balcony.”

“You want to exchange gifts on the balcony?” Jayce has a weird sense of deja-vu. He could swear they argued about the size of their tree last year, too.

    Summary

George’s voice was shaking. “I shouldn't be feeling this way about you. I'm betraying him, I’m betraying all I've ever stood for-”

    Wilbur felt close to hysterical.
“You never stood for anything at all George, that's the problem.”
He wanted to laugh, but his throat closed up - all that escaped his mouth were hackled coughs.
“How do you feel about me then? Am I your favorite prisoner?"

George flinched at Wilbur's harsh words.
“Why can’t you just admit that you feel it too?”

“Just because I’m not biting the hand that’s feeding me, doesn’t mean I’m in love, George.”

The lie felt heavy on his tongue but it was still easier than admitting what he already knew, what George knew as well. That there were gentle feelings blossoming in his chest that didn’t belong in a place like this.

    -

Or: When Wilbur gets taken as a prisoner of war after L’Manberg lost to Dream, he’s dangerously close to giving himself up.
It’s George, the most unexpected person, who pulls him back from the edge and when the friendship between Wilbur and his unlikely ally turns into something more, Dream will do anything to put a stop to it and take back what is his.

    Summary

“Take my blood, then,” he offers, like it’s the most natural thing in the world.

Cellbit can feel his teeth press against his lower lip, the fangs coming in. Roier’s smell is overwhelming, saccharine sweet. Just the thought of getting to taste him makes Cellbit feel like he’s about to lose control. He thanks the gods above he’s too weak to move, otherwise he would have Roier pinned beneath him already.

“You don’t understand what you’re offering,” Cellbit hisses.

“You’re in pain. I don’t wanna see you suffer.”

Roier looks at him like a kicked puppy. He’s got exactly what Cellbit needs, offers it on his own volition, and still, Cellbit hesitates. He can’t recall the last time he fed on a human, much less a human he deeply cared about.

“Please,” Roier says, pulling up the sleeve of his sweater, “Let me help you.”

And that sliver of bare skin is enough to make Cellbit blackout.

    -

Or: After being injured by the Federation, Cellbit needs human blood to heal his wounds. Roier volunteers to help his friend, but neither of them could have expected the consequences: a soul-bond that will put their feelings for each other to the test.

    Summary

Missa tried to bury his face in his hands. “I’m useless! I wanted to make something to remind you of home, but I fucked it all up.”

Phil’s gaze wandered from the blackened burnt something in the pan to Missa in his arms.

“Oh, Missa- I am home. With Chayanne, Tallulah and with you. That’s where my home is.”

    “But the food-”

“Let me tell you a secret…I don't even like fish and chips that much.”

    “No?”

“Yeah,” Phil cradled his cheeks, forcing him to meet his gaze. “It’s just too much vinegar for me.”

Finally, Missa cracked his first real smile of the evening, even if he was still sniffling slightly.
“Philzaaaa,” he muttered. “You’re so good to me.”

“I’m your husband. If I’m not good to you, feel free to make me sleep on the couch.”

    -

Or: Missa wants to thank Phil for everything he does for the family by cooking him something that will remind him of home. Just his luck, everything goes wrong - and it gets worse before it gets better.

    Summary

"We should leave them to it,” Cellbit whispers into his ear.

“You want to sneak away from our own wedding?”

“Mhm…I think I’ve been patient for long enough. I’m done sharing you, guapito.”

A wide grin splits Roier’s face at these words.

“Really? What are you gonna do with me, once you’ve got me all to yourself?”

    “Take you home.”

“Home…” Roier repeats the word slowly like he’s letting it melt on his tongue. He wants that too. There’s no place he’d rather be than at home with Cellbit - with his husband.

    Summary

Something moves him at that moment. Of all things that could have happened, it led him here, with this wonderful man he doesn’t deserve making him breakfast.

“Thank you,” Cellbit says. His voice is hoarse, he hadn’t realized it was the first time he spoke this morning. “For rescuing me. For being there. For choosing me.”
    My hero, he adds silently.

“Idiot,” Roier replies. He turns his head to hide that he’s blushing furiously, but Cellbit can read his body language. He understands Roier better than he understands himself. “Don’t thank me for that. It’s not-”

    “But it is.”

“It’s what a husband does. In sickness and in health, no?”

They’re not even married yet. Still, Cellbit knows Roier will be the best husband. His sensibilities would have been wasted on most of the men on the server. They couldn’t possibly understand him like Cellbit does.

Wouldn’t treasure him. Wouldn’t give him what he truly wants. Because what Roier wants is to be needed. And Cellbit is just enough of a train wreck to be able to give him that.

    -

Or: a soft morning after Cellbit's rescue from the Federation.

    Summary

“Oh, you look like you’ve had a rough week, gatinho.”

It’s the second time in such a short succession Roier is using the nickname, which means he’s trying to wear Cellbit down.
He does that sometimes, lets his touch linger or sweet talks him, usually to convince him to eat or sleep.

Worst of all - it’s working. How could Cellbit say ‘no’ to that face? Roier’s worried frown is the tool of a master manipulator.

His eyes betray a sense of sadness, but Cellbit knows it’s genuine. The recent loss of Bobby must still be seared into his mind and Roier doesn’t hide his feelings as well as he thinks.

Yet he’s here - taking care of other people like it’s his job, even when he’s hurting himself.

Roier is too good for this world.

    -

Or: Cellbit has a rough day and gets pulled out of his spiral of anxiety by a concerned Roier. Thank god for warm baths and forehead kisses.

The glass bottles make a hollow clanging sound as they fall over, rolling into all directions. Mariana kicks one of them away with his foot.

“I have an offer for you.”

“An offer?” Charlie repeats bitterly. “Unless you can bring her back, I’m not interested.”

Nothing can bring her back now, they both know it. It’s Mariana’s fault.

He cannot find peace or redemption, but he can become part of the story. La llorona - the weeping woman’s tale was a prophecy to him.

    “Kill me," he demands.

    Summary

Tommy is no longer a child. He’s taller, lankier and more desperate. Wilbur recognises himself in the purple-blue bags under the eyes, in the hollow stare. In his bruises and scars. He recognises the noose, the tower, the pills.

It’s a mockery of the kinship he always felt. Two minds unraveled with one tug on a single thread.

    And the words form on his lips but never leave his mouth;

You were my purpose. I was your undoing. I’m sorry.

    -

    Summary

He’s still as beautiful as George remembers him, even though his soft features have been warped and contorted by the years spent in limbo, a permanent frown etched into his face.

The sparkle in his eyes is gone.
    But it’s Wilbur. His Wilbur.

“George-“ he says again, his voice hoarse with disuse.

And in a single word he sums it all up.
The “I missed you, I’m sorry, it never should have come to this, I love you”.

George feels like he’s about to crack open any second. Before they were enemies they were lovers and before they were lovers they were friends. Now they’re nothing.

    -
