“But you’re always my hero,” Shoto said. “Have been, always will be, ever since you sat with me in my room at Troy.”
His words hovered in zero gravity, and it wasn’t something he could just snatch back. There was a terribly weak, inconsistent thumping against Katsuki’s ribs. He curled his fingers tighter over the steering wheel, until the sound of his nails scratching against the material made his eyes burn.
"I'm trying," he moaned. "I'm trying so hard to leave but I can't get out."
Shoto returns to Musutafu after a three-year stint in Tokyo, to find out what it means to be more than the sum of his childhood, but also finds—Katsuki, doing the same in reverse, hovering in a limbo where Midoriya refuses to go.

Shoto leaned forward and kissed Katsuki’s cheek.
Katsuki barely noticed it. He was staring at the list he’d spent the past few weeks filling in, as if shopping for a house was the same as buying groceries—runners, throw pillows, storage boxes. Bumerang hangers. Multicoloured Vattensten LED lighting strips. A Nödmast portable lamp, because Katsuki insisted on having his PC in their room.
Their room. Theirs, theirs, theirs.

Summary
Kirishima and Shouto both turn to Kirishima’s table where Bakugo is calling to them. Shouto can see what he assumes to be Kirishima’s abandoned homework on the table, but he barely acknowledges it when the only thing he can think about is how Bakugo called him Princess in front of the whole cafeteria (he knows it’s probably meant to be mocking, but then Bakugo looks at him and…yeah, people don’t look at their friends like that).
Kirishima turns to him with an eyebrow raised. “...Bad for your heart?”
Shouto can feel his left hand starting to smoke. “Very bad.”
“Well,” Kirishima slaps a hand on his shoulder and smiles with pity. “You’ve got a good chance, if it’s any consolation.”
Or in which Shouto is caught enjoying his midnight snack, and things simply devolve from there.

' "Stop thinking so hard and put your arm around my fucking shoulders already."
At first, Shouto thinks he's misheard. Bakugou muttered it angrily under his breath, and also, there's no way Bakugou could know exactly what he's thinking, right? That's not part of his skillset. Bakugou is actually amazing at always assuming people are thinking the exact wrong thing so he can get pissed off about it.
"Excuse me?" Shouto asks.
Bakugou sighs, scarlet eyes slicing sideways to drill into Shouto's own. "Are you deaf? Put your arm around me." '
