Summary
In the far, parental-instinct-ridden back of his mind, Phoenix wonders what it would’ve been like to raise both of the Gramarye siblings. To have raised Apollo as he did Trucy, to have taken him in and given him somewhere to call home. To have been able to document the both of them growing up and perhaps have a picture of a young Apollo in the other window of his locket. To save him from the pain he’s feeling now, and to have loved him when he needed it, during his formative years when he was so heartbreakingly devoid of it.
And then, in the more conscious and rational part of his mind, he tells himself to shut up. Apollo is Trucy’s brother, but at the same time, Apollo is still his employee, and imagining what it would’ve been like to raise him as a son probably breaks… some kind of professional boundary.

“Hey,” Phoenix says, and internally cringes at how lame of a first greeting that was after having seen Apollo every week for about two years, and then not at all for three whole months. “What’s up?”
“I…” Apollo clears his throat. “I wanted to come home.”
It just doesn't make sense: Apollo returning to the office instead of his apartment, not even dropping off his things or taking twenty minutes to clean up a little bit after his flight. What makes even less sense is how completely crestfallen he looks. And what makes absolutely no sense at all is him referring to the Wright Anything Agency as home.

Godot had the same routine in jail. Go wake up in a cell, eat whatever jail had to offer, free time, lunch/dinner, sleep in the same cell he woke up in. He also got to see his former arch-enemy during detention center hours, but one day he stopped showing up, and the day after that, continuously for months to even a year or so. Then one day he comes back in jail.
