    Steve sits up and leans against the wall, brain still feeling jumbled and head still feeling dazed. He wants- he wants to throw something. He wants to hit someone. He wants to scream- “You hurt me! How could you hurt me!” He pictures himself bleeding out from a knife wound like that chick Two-Bit Mathews saw at the Dingo, and madly, he thinks then Dad’ll be sorry. He winds his fingers through his hair and tugs, hoping the sting will bring him back to Earth.

    He wants Momma.
