Summary
One measure of a work of art is the many ways in which it may proliferate meaning, and the early seasons of Supernatural offered us an abundance of interpretive possibilities. Not all of these were consistently followed through, and some were actually contradictory, but that’s OK. It’s in the nature of art to be suggestive, not exhaustive. This series is a collection of drabbles, codas and vignettes in which I attempt to pick up some of the creative trails the show suggested to me. Sometimes I take the route directed by the original episodes and just explore a little further down the road; occasionally I take a detour to investigate alternate avenues of possibility hinted at on signposts along the way, but never more than glimpsed in passing on the show - a Supernatural scenic tour, if you like :)

Summary
Go back to the beginning . . . and take a different road
John never married Mary, Dean never became a hunter, Sam never had a father. While Dean grows up in a typical loving family, Sam is raised as a guerilla hunter cut off from normal society. They are thrown together for the first time when the yellow-eyed demon attacks Dean's family. Dean abandons his life as a college student and musician and takes to the road with Sam. Now they are fighting side by side, searching for the demon that killed their mothers and trying to save John.
This is an episodic AU serial that mimics the formula and style of the original Superntatural show, but with an ongoing slash romance subplot manifesting mainly as UST nuances in the early episodes. Each episode has a self-contained adventure plot and can be read as a stand alone story.

With Crowley apparently dead and Sam's soul back in place, even though Eve is a worry and Castiel's fighting a heavenly war, Sam and Dean at last have some space to get back to what passes (for them) as a normal life. They've just finished up a pretty standard job and are killing time in snowy Wisconsin when Dean wakes up no longer looking like Dean. That's just the start of their problems.
