Summary
Every year, Shane’s university hockey team volunteers at the Great Montreal Haunt as scare actors for one weekend. Every year, Shane Hollander finds himself obsessing over the man who plays “Le Fantôme,” a hot drama student who was Shane’s gay awakening during his first year of university. Now a third-year, and on the cusp of finally getting signed to the Montreal Voyageurs, Shane is back for one last volunteer weekend with a specific goal in mind: He’s going to fuck the Fantôme, even if it kills him.

Shane Hollander is the most talked about young prospect in the hockey world. His future was bright. A sports scholarship to one of the best schools in the district, scouts already singing his praises, and come his third year, his jersey would be adorned with the captains emblem just as he deserved.
But when a certain transfer student from Russia arrives, everything seems to turn upside down.
Or,
Shane Hollander isn't used to competition, Ilya Rozanov is happy to give him a run for his money.

Summary
In another timeline, Shane and Ilya hook up in Room 1410, Ilya slips out unnoticed, and they spend the next seven years trapped in the situationship from hell we all know and love.
In this one, Yuna Hollander walks in just as Ilya goes to leave and—through the combined power of misunderstanding, miscommunication, and a frankly alarming lack of follow-up—Shane and Ilya start dating in 2010.
Given the chance to grow up with rather than against each other, Shane and Ilya build a life thats steadier, safer, and far less frightening than their canon. Their rivalry fizzles before it ever has the chance to fully ignite, replaced by hockey’s most beloved “bromance", and in 2015, they find the courage to do the one thing their canon counterparts never got to do: tell the NHL and the world.
There is just one problem: No one believes them.
OR: Despite Shane and Ilya being out for two years, Scott Hunter is still considered the first openly gay player in the NHL, much to Ilya’s indignation.
