“Are you sure you don’t want any help?” Pei Ming asks, for the third time. Shi Qingxuan can hear his frown from three thousand miles away. “I can get a flight there by the end of the day.”
“I’m fine. Really.” Shi Qingxuan cradles the enormous cordless phone between his cheek and shoulder, marveling privately at both its size and the ridiculous antenna that sprouts from one end. He’s lucky the land-line is still working; he didn’t even think about if his cell phone would have reception on this lonely spit of land.
He wonders if his brother paid the phone bill out months in advance, or if the phone company just overlooked this far-flung beach house since its owner hardly ever visits. And now he never will again, thinks Shi Qingxuan.

What Liu Qingge had lacked in size (at least, compared to the incomparable protagonist) he had more than made up for with enthusiasm and athletic prowess!
He finds Liu Qingge quickly. Kneeling by a river, fully clothed - oh, good, he must have cleaned up. And now he’s holding Cheng Luan--?
