"Yeah." Wilbur sighs. "Until we have to go back."
He looks up at the sky, and the stars paint a silver light over his face. "But before that, we've got time. They're good people, too, once you get to know them. They're like a second family. Just- give it a chance? For me?" He sticks out a pinkie.
And it's so hard to make that kind of promise. It's hard when his blood burns him from inside out. It tears through his heart, boils his skin and, in effort to keep him alive, it fucking kills him.
It's hard when his bloodline is nothing more than a pre-emptive headstone.
Tommy links their pinkies together in promise. "Fine, whatever. Just- fuck off for now."
