Summary
16 months ago, Cas became human.
12 months ago, Cas left the bunker and a broken-hearted Dean behind.
Now they must work a case together, where married couples are dying mysterious deaths and the only way to earn the neighbors' trust is by pretending to be married. Destiel might not technically “exist”, but that’s because the cameras haven’t captured it. Now that the fourth wall has been broken, subtext may become explicit text. Explicit being the operative word here.

Summary
Even Dean will admit it: he’s done something stupid this time.
Gabriel is glowering from inside the ring of holy fire. He would look more intimidating without the confetti scattered over his shoulders and in his hair, but nonetheless Dean thinks he maybe shouldn’t have pulled this stunt alone. But Sam and Cas got stuck in a church with about sixty innocent people, surrounded by like thirty rabid flesh-eating creeps, so it’s up to him now.
“Look asshat,” Dean starts intelligently. “You’re gonna give me the skull stick. And you wanna know why? ‘Cause I’m the one outside the circle. And circle takes the square. Staff. Thing.” He shakes his head.
Gabriel looks pissed, but also bored, which for Dean’s sake is better than just pissed. “The vajra,” he rolls his eyes and crosses his arms, “I have, it’s kind of a…personal item.”
“Gross, dude, TMI.”

The one in which Gabriel casts an unfortunate spell on Dean that only affects him when he’s touched by Cas’s grace.

Castiel knows Dean will never fall in love with him, no matter how long he pines for him. But when a witch curses Dean to lose his memory and Cas is called in to help, Dean starts flirting with him. Cas tries to focus on the case, he really does, but he’s caught up in the whirlwind of feelings Dean is stirring up. When he steps into a diner to pick up a bacon cheeseburger, milkshake, and a slice of pie for Dean, he gets taken by the Loughlins instead, leaving Dean alone in the cold.
Dean doesn’t remember the beautiful man with the bright blue eyes, but he’s warm and smells like Heaven, and his voice is deep like gravel road under tires. When the pretty man says, “I’m Cas. I’m your best friend,” Dean’s inclined to believe him, but there’s something else there: a fluttering in his chest, a gravitational pull.
“Are we dating?” No, but I wish we were.
