Nico peered at the screen closely, as if that would help him make sense of what he was seeing. It was a schematic of an F1 car, that much was obvious. He knew the parts of an F1 car back to front, every individual component of the engine. But there was something in the diagram on screen that didn’t belong; an oddly-shaped blob, highlighted red, nestled right in the centre of the engine.
“I have no clue,” Nico admitted.
“It looks kind of like a heart, don’t you think?”
Gabi was right. The unidentified machine was heart-shaped, and as he watched, its edges even pulsed slightly.
“We’ll have to tell them about it soon,” came a voice from the corridor, thick with an Italian accent. “It’s experimental tech, and with the nature of how it works, we need to get their consent first before installing it.”---
In the mid-season upgrades, Sauber tries a new experimental technology to gain an edge over their competition.

It had never worked though. Nico was practiced in the art of keeping his feathers unruffled. It pissed off Gabi to no end.
In this instance, Nico had just snorted and turned to return the teasing eye contact Gabi was giving him. “Right. And if I finish ahead of YOU, then I reap the same benefits.”
