    the day before possibly the most important audition in his career up to this point, neil perry loses his copy of the invention of love. it disappeared somewhere between his agent's office in midtown and the shoebox apartment he shares with his best friend in jackson heights. thus, the search for another copy begins. along the way, neil stumbles upon anderson's used & rare books. he steps in inside, hoping against all hope that this store will have what he's looking for. otherwise, he can kiss that audition (and his agent) goodbye.

    to make a long story short, neil gets another copy of the play. he also gets a date with a tall, blond bookstore owner whose eyes are blue-grey like the ocean, and he has a laugh that makes neil's heart do funny things in his chest.
