Stelle looked around, trying to make sense of what had just happened. Lygus must have changed not only the setting but also the timeline. Years had passed since the first memories he showed her. But if that was the case, it was a scenario that shouldn’t have happened in reality. Aedes Elysiae had been destroyed long ago, according to what Phainon had told her. And yet, here they were, all three of them at the age they had — or should have had, in Cyrene’s case — in the real world.
So, given her current predicament, what kind of new fanfiction had Lygus thrown her into?
As Stelle is musing about Lygus' "interactive theater" moral implications, he gets the idea to tweak things a little, and let her experience something different. This is how she gets thrown into a possible scenario made from Phainon's wishes: one peaceful day in a world where there is no need for a Deliverer.

Oikawa waves a hand. "Of course." he says, and flashes her a smile that makes her look like she might keel over. "Slytherins help each other, hm?" She nods, head bobbing, and then almost trips walking away.
"Who's daughter was she?" Suga asks in Oikawa's ear, low enough not to be heard.
Oikawa wraps a strand of starlight hair around one of his fingers. "Daddy's a member of the Wizengamot," he says, just as quiet.
"Ambition," Suga sighs happily, staring into the fire. "Beautiful."

“Why ask me, again?” He can’t imagine the young man has any illusion towards Oikawa’s helpfulness, with the way he had treated Tobio when they were in school. Oikawa somewhat regrets this right now, but not enough to make his attitude more conciliatory.

But maybe living with Ushijima isn't such a bad thing. Maybe, Kuroo and Bokuto are right and he is actually the best roommate ever. Oikawa is about to find out, because he has nowhere else to go.
---“Good news, everybody!” Bokuto called into the apartment. “Kuroo’s brain has arrived!”
Kuroo ran out of the kitchen in a hurry to save his shy friend. “He’s Nekoma’s brain, not Kuroo’s brain!” he corrected, but Oikawa was already smirking.
“Oh great!” Oikawa turned to Kenma, grinning even wider when he noticed him flinch. “I’m still waiting on those five beers I paid for out of my tips.”
Bokuto jumped in without missing a beat. “And remember to empty your pockets before putting your jeans into the wash! There was another tissue in there today."
“We’re out of dish soap,” Ushijima said, making Oikawa’s head turn in surprise. “And it’s your turn.”
While Oikawa gave him a fist bump, Kuroo just gave him an annoyed look. “You too?” he said, before he grabbed his jacket and ushered Kenma out of the apartment. “Come on, let’s go! Otherwise, this is just gonna go on forever.”

Ushijima bent over the box to look at the goldfish lying belly-up on a bed of paper towels. He frowned, but by now Oikawa was sure that it was nothing personal, just the natural state of his face.
“We're not an animal hospital,” he said. “I don't think I can help you with this.”
Oikawa dripped a few raindrops onto the counter in protest.
“Really?” he droned, gesturing at the clearly dead fish between them. “You don't think I realize this is a bit late for the animal hospital?”
“So... it's a complaint?” Ushijima asked, looking completely serious. “We don't offer take-backs. Especially since this fish was clearly used.”

when oikawa tooru tries to define himself, the only word he can come up with these days is "salaryman." and he’s fine with that. really. at his grand age of 28, a stable job that puts money towards his savings is as much as he can ask for.
he doesn’t need anything more, and he definitely doesn’t need to think about what else he could’ve been. after all, it doesn’t help much.
...
but maybe he needed this, needed someone to look at him with stars in their eyes, just once, just one more time.
[or, nobody-anymore oikawa tooru meets international-superstar kageyama tobio out of chance. he tries (and fails) to not let his own pride get in the way.]

Summary
Oikawa never noticed before, but Daichi is definitely missing a tooth.
And not just, like, a wisdom tooth or a molar. He’s missing a pretty prominent biter, on the left side of his mouth. You can’t always see when he’s just talking or going about his normal business, but when he grins or laughs in the way he’s prone to do, it’s pretty damn obvious. Oikawa had never noticed it before, and now it’s all that he can think about.

“Rather late to do laundry, isn’t it?” Tooru says conversationally, even as Tobio’s laundry spins very conspicuously in the corner.
“I’ve learned that all the interesting creatures come out at night,” Atsumu says vaguely.
