Chimney's eyes dance with barely restrained glee. "Don't listen to him," he says. "It is a big deal, and you should be embarrassed."
"Well I'm not embarrassed," snaps Buck, heat coloring his cheeks. "It was nothing, you know? People say stupid things in high adrenaline situations. It doesn't have to mean anything."
"So you're … not in love with Eddie?"
Eddie falls off a cliff, and it knocks a few truths loose.

Caleb resists. Hands firm — not soft, not caressing — on Essek's shoulders, he holds him at arm's length. His eyes are searching, and Essek finds he cannot meet them.
"Bitte, be honest with me, dear. Do you want to have sex with me?"
"You want to." Essek says. "And I am willing. Is that not enough?"
Caleb sighs and drops his hands, though not before petting Essek's cheek so briefly. "No, it really isn't."

“What about you, Hotch?” asks Emily. “More training for your triathlon this weekend?”
“Unfortunately not,” says Hotch. His mouth is tight, and there’s a furrow to his brow. They all know the signs too well not to know something is wrong. “We have a case.”
“Already?” asks JJ, dismayed.
Hotch nods, shortly. “Fifteen year old boy has been reported missing in Los Angeles. Christopher Diaz.”

“Oh, I mean, I guess you guys aren’t married yet, but it still counts,” Harry insists, but the more he talks, the more he realizes he’s making some sort of faux pas. He glances around for some help. Maddie and Chimney are clutching each other’s hands tightly, Hen and Karen are looking pointedly at the floor, Buck and Eddie are staring at Harry, and May and Ravi look like they’re on the verge of exploding with laughter. Well, that’s suspicious. “What am I missing here?” Harry finally asks.
“Buck and I aren’t a couple, bud,” Eddie says gently.

Eddie realized dimly that his hand was still lifted, phone pressed to his ear, the call still live – Buck’s voice spilling through the speaker, thin and panicked and far too loud:
“…Eddie, what is happening? Talk to me. Eddie.”
He should have kissed him before leaving the house, Eddie thought, as his knees gave out.
He should have kissed him more, period. Every chance he got. In the kitchen, from behind, hands wrapped around his waist. On the couch, during the quiet lull of a movie neither of them was watching. In the parking lot before a shift, just because he could. In the locker room as the bells went off – a good luck charm tucked just out of sight.
He should have stopped acting like there’d always be another time.
Or,
Eddie refuses to talk about his feelings until the universe literally shoots him about it.
