Summary
The Shop Around the Corner is open six days a week, and its operating hours are typically from ten-ish to seven-ish. Trinity’s never been able to strictly adhere to the schedule posted on the door — she’s a terminal night owl with a penchant for turning off alarms in her sleep, leading to more than one slightly-delayed opening after a harried dash from her apartment to the store. She’s equally reluctant to shake loyal customers loose from the cocoon of the bookshelves when closing time hits, letting teenagers and older folks alike linger in the stacks as she putters around. The store is reluctantly closed on Mondays as a nod to the concept of time off, but Trinity often finds herself turning her key in the lock at 10 o’clock sharp anyway. Or 10:04. 10:17, whatever, she’s there.

But in her defense, she's currently got six feet of boy perched daintily in her lap playing Grand Theft Auto, and she's got exactly thirty-five milligrams of good indica in her bloodstream from the gummy that Gideon had offered her earlier, and Palamedes is wearing cologne, and just the faintest trace of eyeliner, and that pair of tiny silver hoop earrings he wears sometimes, the ones that always make him look extremely homosexual and make her just want to take the metal between her teeth and tug.
She wants him so badly it’s making her stupid. She's starting to think maybe principle can go fuck itself.

She plucks the piece of paper which apparently contains her own life information on it off of the pinboard, and carefully studies the few words written there.
“So, I’m Nancy Drew,” she reads out loud. “Apparently I’m a ‘problem solver’ and ‘have a good memory,’ and then it says ‘except for now’ in brackets.” She squints at the sheet of paper. “There’s something else there, but it’s been scribbled out.”
The man standing on her other side — the one with the flouncy hair and the green jacket with the white collar — leans in to look over her shoulder.
“Um, it looks like it says, ‘maybe dating Ace,’ with a question mark.”
