Summary
“It’s a very long story,” he said.
Well, that wasn’t exactly true. The basic truth itself could be summed up real easy: that guy right there is me from the future and that’s his pal Sam, also from the future. All the details and the questions afterwards - only half of which got actual answers - that’s what really took so long.
When a version of himself from the future is brought back to the past right in front of him suddenly HYDRA isn't the most interesting thing in this war. But the more time Bucky spends with himself and the new companion who came with him, the more questions he finds himself with. How much time has really passed? How much can one man be changed from himself? Who is this Sam - and what will he grow to mean to Bucky?

When Bucky's libido shows back up, it's basically proof that his life is cursed.
Like, obviously, hooray that his dick works again, it's been a long fuckin’ road (and a long road of no fucking, his brain helpfully adds) but—Jesus, fuck, Hydra really are just dedicated to making his life a misery in every possible way, even years down the track, because it turns out there's some operant conditioning Bucky did not know about until now.
Specifically: he can't fuckin’ come unless someone's giving him the order.

Sam’s been on Grindr for quite a while and no one’s really grabbed his attention as fast as BroodyTop has. And it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he could stick Bucky’s head on Broody’s body and they’d be twins, but it kind of does. Because maybe he’s been crushing on the centenarian assassin since Louisiana. Maybe he’s been hoping Bucky would still be there on the living room couch when he wakes up.
