“Can I help you with something?” Vivian asks without looking up from her mail.“No,” Peter says with a shake of his head and narrowing eyes. “Not at all. Just wondering how you’re moving around like that, is all.” He stares at her bruises.
She slams her mailbox closed and turns to face him. “You know,” she says, “you seem awfully concerned with how I’m doing. Maybe you should talk to a therapist. Work out that hero complex.”
His jaw clenches so hard she hears it. “Oh wow… You’re sorta amazing, you know that?” He takes a small step away from the stairwell towards her. “I’ve never meet anyone who,” he pauses before briefly looking around the lobby. “Who could just,” he holds up his hand as he speaks and mimics an explosion. “Blow up any interaction that fast. And that’s really saying something because if you could see the people I know? I mean, wow…”

Gasps follow her, as Stell's open backed dress reveals the marks of cruelty left on her body. Years ago, it revealed expanses of smooth, tanned skin. Today, the same fabric does nothing to hide her bony shoulders, thin frame, and the scars that cover her entire back.

On her honour, Naerys had not known her drunken fool of a cousin had conceived a passion for her handmaiden, nor that her fair friend had deigned to meet his glassy gaze.
Her father had been bemused, her mother affronted, her grandfather furious. Roslin had come to the Red Keep as a hostage, the price her family paid for their inaction during the Rebellion. She was never meant to be a dragon's bride. How the gods favoured her proud, ancient blood.
She could still hear her uncle's cursing, something along the lines of the fucking Hightowers again. In the end, Daeron and Roslin seemed content in their punishment: exile to serene Summerhall.
Naerys thought the scandal excessive. If the Hightowers were truly beginning the game anew, Daeron was a poor choice for pawn. Her father would sit the Iron Throne; after him, Valarr.
As for herself... well, she would find her own path.
