Summary
“Gay?” Edwin tilted his head to the side. In his experience, homosexuality was far from gay. The chanting of Mary Ann had been the macabre lullaby that his killers had sung him to death with; Edwin had undergone decades of torture, he suspected, as a direct result of his suspected inclinations. No, there was no joy in being a homosexual, in Edwin’s opinion. Charles was simply using odd language again.
“Yeah. It means, like… you know. When two blokes fancy each other, they’re gay.”
“Oh.” Edwin pivoted to face Charles. “So, gay is something of a synonym for homosexual, then?”
“Yeah.” Charles grinned. “Yeah, it is.”
“An odd linguistic choice, I must say. Back in my day, gay meant that someone was quite happy.”
“Well, those chaps look happy, don’t they? So, I don’t know. Maybe it isn’t too far off the mark.”

Getting in the water with his clothes on feels a bit weird, even if they won't get wet – Charles can never help clinging on to those habits of life that Edwin seems so ready to abandon – so he strips down to his singlet while Edwin reads, completely engrossed, and the rest of the Brighton populace carries on, completely oblivious.
He hesitates, only a tick, before removing his singlet as well, letting the material pull over his arms naturally rather than be willed away and-

Summary
Even Charles can appreciate the subtleties of the choreography: Fire is boisterous, with great, choppy gestures, Water is in a blue outfit and flows gracefully, Earth stays close to the ground, with sure, stompy movements. It's Air, though, that captivates Charles’s attention: the boy is tall and graceful and pale, and seems to float, his feet barely touching the ground, showcasing astonishing feats of skill and athleticism. He spins and jumps so high, it seems as if he has wings.

“Edwin?”
“Yes, Niko?” Edwin asked, eyes glued to the laptop where a cartoon dog and a man in a green shirt were eating impossibly large sandwiches.
“You and Charles don’t sleep, right? Because you’re ghosts?” She tilted her head a little and turned to face him.
“That’s right.”
“Don’t you get bored at night when Crystal and I are asleep?”or
