The midterm was rough, and he heard rumors that Professor Heimerdinger’s finals were even worse. Besides, the Professor didn’t offer a curve, so Jayce couldn’t hope that just being high above average will save his (so far perfect) GPA.
He knew he would be able to do it on his own, but he could use some help. Perhaps get some motivation. Maybe find a study partner who would help him out on more difficult problems. Basically, Jayce just really needed to lock in.
Therefore, when he overheard some classmates talking about an app called Grindr, his attention was piqued.

“That’s not true,” scoffed the Machine Herald. “Your legacy is secured, you don’t lack funding, and yet you let them kill you and use you.”
Jayce didn’t answer. The Machine Herald continued, “I thought you were obscenely blind, as you are prone to being, but that is not it; you can be foolish, but you are not stupid. I saw too much of your past work to believe that, even your newer products, while utterly useless, have the echo of your old academic brilliance.”
He paused before carefully adding, “You no longer believe in Piltover. So why?”
