Over and over he replays the memories that resurfaced during his fight with Re-Destro. He doesn’t understand why they won’t just go back to the dark recesses of his mind where they came from. He doesn’t need them anymore. They served their purpose.
At first, they felt like a blessing. A sign he’s on the right track, doing what he was always meant to do. He is destruction incarnate, and he will bring the heroes to their knees.
But there is something about one memory that doesn’t fit with the rest. It’s like a splinter sticking out of a wooden table and his mind keeps getting caught on it. The more he tries to tug it out, the deeper it burrows, until it spreads like an infection that can’t be cut out, rotting him from the inside.
His grandmother was a hero.

Summary

The second one is entirely an accident, a misunderstanding born from a panicked attempt to stay alive, but no matter how many times Izuku tells their new tag-along that they aren't this 'Sensei' person, Shigaraki keeps coming back.

Tomura’s hands trembled as he watched the businessman slowly bleed out, blood sticky and hot and drying under his fingernails.
Sensei hadn’t told him that his first kill would be like this, the assassination of a businessman that threatened Sensei’s business ventures. He hadn’t told Tomura until Kurogiri was about to warp him into the man’s apartment that he shouldn’t use his Quirk for this one, should make it bloody and gruesome. As Kurogiri pressed a large serrated knife into Tomura’s hands, he fumbled and almost Dusted it by accident as he was warped away.
A statement, Sensei had called it. Leave him behind as a statement for any who would try to cross us. And a welcome into the business you will one day inherit, Tomura.
Black spots started sparkling across his vision, and Tomura couldn’t be here anymore. He couldn’t wait for Kurogiri - he had to get away now.
