Toolshed hears the crunch of his rib cage before he feels it. There is an awful sound of his bones breaking followed by a hot pain that sears his innards. He falls on his back and his safety goggles clatter onto the cement floor mid-fall. His companions call out his name, but he is unable to respond, his vision blurring when the back of his head connects with the road.

There was a contemplative silence that settled over them. The more Kyle thought about it, the more he thought maybe finding a sex-friend would be more trouble than it was worth. If he had a hard time finding a romantic partner, what kind of hope did he have of finding a sexual one? It seemed like one of those things that would always be great in theory, but impossible in practice. He wasn’t sure who he’d even be looking for.
“I’d do it.”
He turned to look at the man on the ground next to him with wide eyes and a gaping mouth. “Are you propositioning me?”
“I’m not exactly being subtle, jackass.”
“I just - I wanted to check.”
The silence that fell over them this time was much less comfortable.

No one knew the kid’s name, or which school he went to, or what he looked like, because whenever someone asked one of Craig’s friends they rolled their eyes and said it was all bullshit.
That Craig would tell them if he had a boyfriend. Had you even met Craig Tucker? Since when was he shy about anything?
