Standing at the foot of the mountain like some fucking idiot imagining her choosing Hayden, Ryis, Balor—imagining her choosing anyone but him—because he had been so thoroughly, spectacularly certain that being given a Star Brooch meant what a Star Brooch has meant for as long as he can remember.
March wants the mountain to open and swallow him.
