“Open up!” The voice said again, knocking on the door in three quick raps. It took a moment, but he finally recognized the voice as…ugh.
Mercury.
“Venus, please. I just want to talk!”
“Go away!” Venus grumbled, cursing the slight waver to his voice. He doesn’t need anyone poking their noses into his business—especially not Mercury of all people. He turned his back to the door, willing his voice to sound normal enough to not raise suspicion, “I’m…busy!”
“Busy?” The incredulous reply scoffed, and Venus just barely restrained himself from punching the wall out of pure anger. “Venus, that’s a poor lie, even for you.”
OR
Venus refuses to accept help when recovering, hiding away in his room and convincing himself he's fine.
Unfortunately for him, Mercury is one stubborn planet.

“I’m not—“ Mercury flapped irritably and slumped. “You’re… being serious?”

He manages to move another step forward, this time with both proper limbs shifting how he thinks they should. The figure with fire for eyes stares at him once they’ve whipped their head back and forth. This time, they lock eyes.
The smaller screams, flailing back and crushing their own.. wing?
Is that what that was?
Anyway, they quickly scramble off of it after a pained wince crosses their face.
“DON’T EAT ME!” The smaller screeches.
Venus squints.

"I'm not talking to you!" The smaller yelled while turning, clenching his hands into fists angrily. Earth had that stupid, shit-eating grin on his face that Venus hated- and so did Luna, clearly, who was shaking his head with disappointment.
"Wha- what did I do?" The living planet asked, tilting his head confusedly. Behind him, Venus felt even Mercury glare daggers at him- which. Wow. The pipsqueak would never voice his thoughts out loud, though.
That's what Venus was for.
Angry, loud, horrible Venus.
"Well, I didn't drag half the solar system out, now did I?" Venus huffed, ignoring the guilt that comment caused to bubble to his molten surface.
The evil surface. The surface the livings called literal hell.
That hadn't cooled down even the slightest bit. Not even in Earth's orbit.
Or
Despite now orbiting in the Goldilocks zone, Venus' surface did not change.
...His neighbours' certainly did, though. Perhaps not in the best way.

Honestly it should be our ocean with the way I'm maintaining it!" Mercury fires back. "Will you shut up and stop pulling on it already!" Venus growls. Then Mercury leans in closer.

"Sun what are you-?" Venus yelped as he felt a strange shove on his back. Pushing him towards. Oh no. "Sun quit it! Get me away from Pipsqueak!." He growled. "Oh Venus come on! I'm just having fun. You are MY. PLANETS."
"SUN QUIT IT!" Mercury winced as him and Venus are shoved closer together. "Now kiss!" Sun demanded eerily excited. Mercury and Venus pressed against each other firmly with no escape. Sun clearly wanted a show. "Sun isn't there something-" Sun interrupted. "No Venus. Now kiss."

Bitter, loathing thoughts swirled through Venus' mind, blurring everything together into one giant, miserable ball of hatred.
It was one of those days.
One of those absolutely amazing days.
Venus sat amongst the many asteroids drifting through their orbits, eyes glaring at the stars beneath him. Ah yes, classic Venus move. Hate others so it outweighs the hate for yourself. His hands balled into fists, anger rolling through his core. But he didn't move. Didn't look away and calm down. Why would he? He never did anything useful anyways. Why start now?
Why move, if he was out here in the first place to hide?
OR
Stuck in a spiraling, depressive episode, Venus reveals more about himself than he'd ever thought he would
