The rhythm of his breathing gently shifts the slope of his back; big inhales and whuffling exhales that Vash teasingly calls snoring when he wants Wolfwood to get all huffy about it, and a miracle in the hushed moments after the day has ended and all there is to do is fall asleep together, chest to chest. Heartbeat to heartbeat.
That feeling — this sight — the deep-rooted joy it causes — is something Vash got impossibly close to losing. To never experiencing crucial parts of it.

“Do what?” Yoshiki mumbles, still preoccupied with figuring out the best way to go about showering.
“Wash your hair.”
Yoshiki keeps fidgeting with his hair for a second before he actually hears Hikaru, at which point he lowers his hands and turns around agonizingly slowly, like a rusted hinge that screeches when moved. “…What?"

Wolfwood catches a glimpse, just a sparkle, really, but there’s something on Vash’s hand, something that wasn’t there last night. He reaches up, catches Vash’s hand in his own, and brings it down in front of their faces.
Vash’s eyes widen. Wolfwood curses.
There’s a ring on Vash’s finger. Looks expensive, more expensive than anything they should have been buying. Jesus Christ, how maudlin did he get last night? But Vash’s eyes are still wide as they roam over to where Wolfwood has Vash’s hand clasped in his own.
There, on Wolfwood’s left ring finger, there’s another ring, a match to the one Vash is wearing.
“Fuck,” Wolfwood breathes. Vash hasn’t made a noise. Wolfwood is pretty sure he’s holding his breath.
