Summary
It wasn’t often that Ardent spared time away from the Höllvanian time loop like this. Every second away left them more restless then usual. Anxious, perhaps. But these check-ins with their future half were necessary. They needed stuff. Juno wanted stuff. They traded.
The items Ardent brought from the past were almost always mundane in variety. Children craved novelty items, like leaded pencils and Chugging Along six packs. Ardent had bartered a couple On-Lyne CDs from Aoi this time around, plus one limited edition On-Lyne floof—which had immediately found its way into the jaws of Juno’s terrifying Helminth charger.
Ardent was going to refrain from mentioning that to Aoi.

Summary
But Ardent—Ardent was something else. A soldier too, but one who read all the manuals and did all the tutorials and got all the upgrades and then learned how to hack into the source code to figure out all the enemy NPCs health values and damage vulnerabilities. It made Arthur look like he was jiggling his power cable to lag-switch and failing.
It couldn't have been more then twenty seconds before Arthur hit the ground, hard enough that Amir winced before he remembered their techrot infused bodies shrugged that damage off like it was nothing now.
Ardent just stood there, boot to Arthur's chest. Round two to player one.
“Hot stuff, innit.”

Summary
“I need a favor.” Ardent added, as he was about to get back to it.
He leaned back, gun forgotten.
“Is that right?” Usually, he was the one weaseling favors out of them. But hell, if she was just gonna out and toss him a freebie- “n' how many does that bring you up to?”
Ardent blew a raspberry. “Bah, who knows. You game or not?”
“Not saying jack to shit until I know what I’m playing.” Quincy said, folding his arms. “As much as I like lordin’ all these IOUs over your head, ‘m not stupid n' you’re stallin’. Spill it.”
“I want to have sex.” Ardent said, with all the warning of a swift and sudden punch to the gut.

Summary
With nothing better to do than to let his thoughts chase themselves in catastrophising circles (don’t think about Eleanor and Lettie and how they’re getting on, don’t think about Quincy and if he got out before the tank got there, don’t think about Amir failing to stop the reactor exploding, don’t think about-), Arthur half-turned to keep Umbra in his periphery, tapping his index finger against the trigger guard of his rifle.
This was their future, if Marty’s very hasty and sporting gaping holes story was anything to go by.
or;
It wasn't just Drifter sent back to 1999. Umbra was taken along for the ride too as back up that Drifter can rely on... too bad it didn't change anything on that disastrous New Years Eve, but it sure adds some new and interesting dynamics amongst the Hex while they wait out the timeloop.

Summary
Even in Höllvania and the least lonely they’ve ever been, it takes time to recalibrate every now and again.
And sometimes, Drifter’s hand itches while it’s curled into a fist.
Better not to think about it.

Summary
When Amir had first gone for a run after taking Entrati’s super-fucked-up protoframe serum, he’d felt like the fastest thing alive. He hadn’t expected anything to ever make him feel slow again. This, though? It makes him feel glacial, and it’s incredible.
Or: The Drifter shows Amir how to move like a real Warframe.

Summary
“Earlier,” she says. “In the alley. Were you watching him fight?”
Lucanis nods. Takes a seat at the table one chair away. Keeping his distance. “I find it difficult to watch sometimes. He is wild. Reckless and dangerous.”
“And never heeding any advice to be careful.”
“I have offered to share some training. But he declines. I think he likes the danger.”
“He would.” The words slip out of her mouth, loosened by the comforting heat of the tea. She looks at Lucanis quickly. But he’s nodding. Agreeing with her overly familiar statement. On his face she sees her own exasperation reflected at her. Neither of them know what to do with this. This worry.
