Evan’s eyes snatch away from Eddie and he looks up to the front of the class, where everyone’s turned to look at the two of them. Mr.Robert, his teacher, standing in front of them with both hands on his hips, an inquisitive look on his face. He raises an eyebrow, as if to say “so? is there?”
Evan tries to swallow, then clear his throat before simply shaking his head in response.
“You’re sure?” his teacher asks again, bringing out a cooling sensation of humiliation down his spine, “Because you seemed really interested in it.”
He tries to bite his tongue, unsuccessful. “I wasn't aware that where my eyesight landed was any of the school’s problems, Mr. Robert.”

“Shut it, Hudson,” Hayden cut him off, tone warning and harsh. Nobody says anything else. Someone hits him on the back of the shoulder, Shane guesses it’s the coach and he forces himself to stand up and get on the ice for the face off. When he bent down on shaky legs, he did his best to hold back the groan from leaving his mouth.
“God, Hollander,” Rozanov’s voice almost sounded worried when he spoke. “What the hell is happening to you?”
The word is out before his brain can even think it over. “Heat.” He says, shaking his head as if to clear his mind and then looking down at the ice. He’s pretty sure he hears Rozanov say something, but he’s trying too hard not to keep up with the game so he doesn’t hear it.

“Hollander,” he says, his voice thick and low, hitting Shane’s ears and echoing through his earring canal and in every corner of his body. He blinks, holding off his breath for a moment, unable to keep his heartbeat down as it goes faster in his chest.
His eyes roam across Ilya’s face like he wants to make sure nothing has changed on it. “You owe me a kiss,” he says, voice barely even a whisper as he steps into the house. Shane grabs onto the collar of Ilya’s shirt and pulls him in, smashing their mouths against each other.
Rozanov’s hands are on him immediately. He’s pretty sure he hears the door behind him closing, but all Shane cares about is the smell of Ilya’s body, the warmth coming from it and the fucking taste of his mouth on his. They stumble into the room, Shane’s back hitting the walls around them a few times until they’re finally in Ilya’s living room. “Fuck, Hollander,” and Shane doesn’t give him time to say anything else and push him on the couch before straddling him. He smashes his mouth onto his again.

Ilya takes a step closer. “You would totally hate that, so why ask for it?”
All of a sudden, Shane’s defensive posture deflates. He makes himself small under Ilya’s hard gaze. His frown disappears, and his elegant cheeks flush a deep shade of red. He avoids Ilya’s eyes like the plague, and his throat visibly struggles to swallow.
It lasts five seconds before Shane tries to pull himself together, but it’s too late. Ilya catches it immediately, and his annoyance vanishes.
Realization hits him like a motherfucking truck in the middle of the road.
“Oh my god, Hollander.” Ilya’s voice is flirty and teasing. He tries not to smirk like a Cheshire cat, but he can’t help it. His cheeks hurt from the enormous, unapologetic smile. “You would totally love it. Right?”

The words hang in the air between them, fragile and irrevocable. Rozanov goes very still.
Shane feels a flash of panic—wonders if he’s misjudged, if he’s pushed too hard and too fast. He rushes to fill the silence, almost tripping over the words, trying to frame it the way he rehearsed in his head.
“It’s more practical, right?” He adds. “Less media. No teammates. You’d have your own space. And it’s only until flights start up again. You can leave first thing when they resume.”
