Summary
“Hi,” he greeted her, eyes twinkling in fond amusement.
He was alive.
Pearl pulled herself from his arms and wings, stepped back, and punched him in the face as hard as she possibly could.
Grian looked back up at her. She stared back, fist still clenched by her side.
“You deserved that,” She said, unflinching.
“…Yeah,” Grian agreed. “I probably did.”

(or: Pearl joins Hermitcraft Season 8, where she learns her dead brother isn’t actually dead. She responds in the only reasonable way, really: by punching him in the face and then forcing him to talk about it over tea.)

Summary
The story is simple: nine heroes step into nine dark portals, teaming up to chase a mysterious enemy through space and time. But that isn’t the beginning. The story starts much, much earlier than any of The Chain realize.
(or: The Goddesses create a stage, and place three pieces upon it. The Fierce Deity takes that personally.)

It’s hard to be an army leader when there’s a boy on your mind, even more so when he texts you and asks for a favor. Oh, boy.

aka basically pure fluff with Tord pining after Tom, and Tom just wanting his favor. -

Summary
“I want death.” Shane choked out, resting his head on the toilet bowl.
“Hey-” The voice continued, scoldingly.
“I know, I know-” Shane starts, rolling his eyes fondly. “I’m not supposed to say that because its bad for my mental health, but I just puked up my entire digestive tract and I haven’t had a drop of alcohol in the past year so I think I’m justified in wanting at least a little bit of death.”

Summary
The Admin sinks to one knee. “What are you doing?” Xelqua demands before he can stop himself, voice cracking.
“Well,” a voice comes from The Admin, and it is… it is not weird, but it is, and Xelqua can not describe how - just that it sends another shiver down his spine. “You don’t exactly look happy, and I’m afraid that may have something to do with me.”
It does. “That doesn’t exactly explain your… Everything.”
“No use in intimidating you, friend.”
Or: 5 times Grian meets a Hermit, and one time they already knew one another.

Summary
“What about Mumbo?”
“Mumbo?” Iskall asks, and their tone is uncharacteristically serious, and Etho tells himself that he really needs to ask his roommate about their long discussion with Mumbo. “What do you want to know about Mumbo?”
Grian’s eyes watch Iskall for a moment, a bit too intense, before they shift back to Etho, and then to the rough sketch of the compass and its cardinal directions: “Where did he go?”
“Aha,” Etho says, suddenly understanding what Grian wants. “Mumbo is also from one of the rarer directions.” He points at the bottom left area on his paper. “Right there.”
Grian leans closer. “Wicked Nonsense?”
Etho nods. “That’s what X says, but-”
“Mumbo’s world is just some high Logic that pretends to be high Nonsense,” Iskall cuts. “X says it’s Nonsense because Mumbo could create pretty much anything he wanted.” Etho thinks of Bdubs and his nostalgic smile when he tells him about how in Omnia anything could be real, if one simply took the time to imagine it.OR: Etho yearns for the world he left. Mumbo tries to find joy in the world he returned to. Grian's reappearance makes this easier and a lot more difficult at once.
OR 2: idiots screw up years of therapy

Summary
There are things in Boatem that aren't talked about. Open secrets, if you will, some less secret than others.
Scar is part Vex. (And has stumbled into a situation with unintentional magic that's dragging him back to those roots.) Mumbo is a potato—among other things. (And he can't figure out why when the defective codes that made him that way are long gone.) Pearl is, periodically, turning into a ghost. (And she doesn't know why, even when she can't stop staring up at the ever-growing moon.) Impulse is, quite possibly, the sanest person in all of Boatem. (And that's just a terrifying thought, because no one should have that responsibility.) Grian is a Watcher. (And that's causing all sorts of other problems of late, most of which he is pointedly ignoring. Not to mention the other open secret, his wings, and how he is absolutely not coming to terms with the fact that, after Last Life, he'll never be able to fly with them again.)
And there are a few other things—how Xisuma's terrifyingly unaware of his own server and possibly possessed, how Doc never wanted to take over his position as admin, how Jimmy never came back from Last Life.
Oh.
And the moon's big.

Bookmarker's Notes
holy shit. that’s all. thanks drtrekkie for emotionally stabbing me like grian @ mumbo
(future me notes: this is the one with the watcher children/siblings, grian was snatched, turned into a watcher, and has many breakdowns, pearl is moon spirit, there are dragon bargains and time travel, mumbo stole (co-parents?) grian’s soul & species, scar has a(n ex)wife (& CHILD), xisuma is mentally blocked from the server; goes through all the life series alongside hermitcraft.
storyline not completed, all currently posted main stories in series have been read at time of bookmarking, faultline is next work in series, not yet posted at time of bookmarking)

Summary
The first time he hears 'your Sigyn', Goro hates himself for the way he immediately knows who Loki is talking about, lashing out with furious denial before he can can allow the implications of such a title to fully wash over him. It's easier this way, Goro tells himself.
He should have known better than to deny a manifestation of his own soul, but refusal comes easier- it always has, and it's not until there's a bullet in his side and a bulkhead barrier between himself and Ren, that Goro finally allows himself to accept the truth Loki had so clearly laid out before him months ago.
Then, really, it's impossible not to recognise the every parallel between themselves and the Norse deities that came before them.

Summary
“My trickster.” Her smile is gentle. Akechi doesn’t trust it, but it washes over him regardless.
“I’m not,” Akechi thinks he says. He’s not sure. A haze is pulled over his eyes, over the room, like a grainy filter. When did he get here?
“Not what?”
She’s ethereal. Otherworldly and untouchable, eyes much too kind. Certainly powerful— he feels he knows her, has always known her. It burns and he turns away from it. When he opens his mouth, he is unsure of what he will say. He knows it will not be honest— it is a rejection.
“Not….. that.” She nods, as if it makes sense. His head hurts. “Can you tell me what the fuck you have me here for?”
—
Goro Akechi is pulled into the Velvet Room and forced to make bonds. He is less than pleased.
