Summary
It’s the summer of 1989 and 18 year old Wilhelm Dahlgren knows exactly how the rest of his life will play out, between taking over his dad’s car repair shop and hanging out with the same friends he’s known since he could crawl. There’s nothing he could think of that would change his plans. Certainly not Simon, the snarky, standoffish newcomer in town (as pretty as his eyes sparkle when he’s not actively trying to murder Wille with them).
Except somehow, Simon and Wille end up on a road trip together, one that’s supposed to change Simon’s life, but that might just make Wille question some things he’s always been so sure of. And how come he just can’t seem to shake this stupid, raging crush he’s developed on the guy in his passenger seat?Aka a Wilmon 80s AU with plenty of pop culture references and none of the era-typical homophobia.

“I have a surprise for you,” Wille had told him, as they walked to the Marieberg car lot together after school. They had gone to Wille’s car as usual, the old, slightly beat up one Wille had bought from Ayub’s uncle with no special “prince price,” since Wille realized he didn’t want a flashy new one or use one of Erik’s, let alone use more royal money than he had to.
Simon had let Wille open the passenger side door for him as always, pretending to be irritated but actually fond of his chivalrousness, like an actual fairytale prince just for him. They had dumped their bags in the backseat and cracked the windows to let in the crisp autumn air, and they were off.
Wille surprises Simon with a new date spot. Only, he doesn't know that Simon has already had a date here.

It's too good to be real. It's too good to be real, Wille should have known. He should have stopped before they stumbled their way into this guest room, should have stopped before they ever started talking again, he should have looked away when their eyes met. It would've been easier than having Simon pull away from him, flat hand on Wille's chest, creating a distance that seems impossibly far, even with his knees bracketing Simon's hips.

“You need to stop,” Simon hums lazily, dragging fingers through Wille’s hair to hold him still. His voice is teasing, a little strict but clearly not really meaning what he says, and it makes Wille burn even more.
“Can’t sleep,” Wille says, a little whine in his voice. He suckles gently on one spot of Simon’s skin since he’s been bereft of continuing his route of kisses, until Simon’s grip on his hair gets harsher and he uses it to pull Wille’s head up. Wille is about to whine again, but then he sees Simon’s face. Simon is looking at him with dark, lust-swirled eyes half hidden by his eyelashes, his chin jutting up slightly and a small teasing smile on his face.

Simon, turn around!!It's only when he reads that last message that Simon actually turns around and, when he does, everything becomes suddenly very clear: coming out of the turquoise water, with a hand in his wet blond hair to push it off his forehead and the swim trunks hanging low on his hips, is one of the hottest guys Simon has ever seen in his life. He feels his cheeks heat up and quickly turns back around.
“Cute,” he distractedly says to the livestream, letting out an embarrassed giggle when he becomes aware of having just said that in front of thousands of people. “Very cute.”
