    Shadow's life has been full of mistakes, some worse than others, but admitting his unrequited feelings to Sonic tops the list. He's spent the better part of a decade ruminating on his regret and hiding from feelings he couldn't bear to face. He never thought he'd see Sonic again, and he told himself that was for the best.

    Until now.

    At the bequest of his former rival, and in an attempt to finally get closure, Shadow has returned to Central City. The reason?

    Sonic the Hedgehog is marrying Amy Rose.

    Working with each other in Operation Cleanup, a plan to rebuild the city after a particularly gruesome Eggman attack, Sonic and Shadow grow closer. Feelings come to a head during a hangout at Shadow’s apartment.

    When Shadow gets called away for an inter-dimensional mission and Sonic has to care for his houseplants as well as communicate with him through Morse code, he realizes just how deep his feelings run. Who else would he go through all this trouble for?

    I cant express my delight with this work enough, but instead I will say I actually keep returning here every once in a while. The characterisation of both: Sonic AND Shadow is simply flawless. I could easily picture their interactions in my mind, the perfect choice of words made the story become vivid in front of my eyes. I like how Shadow was presented as softer in moments like those, when he wasn't on a mission or world-saving duty. Absolutely recommend!

    However, in the middle of the night, a phantom appears to haunt him; an apparition of crimson eyes and golden fur who isn’t quite the Sonic that Shadow remembers. And despite himself, Shadow not only wants answers, but a second chance with the one he lost.
