Summary

She brushed a hand over one of his bruised cheeks. He'd changed so much physically over the years, but sometimes the right expression made him look like a sullen little boy. He'd grown into his ears and height. Unlike her, he'd triumphed over puberty. Looking into his face she tried to imagine him as an older man. The thought made her smile and he swooned. If anything inside of him hurt, it was his metaphorical heart, shaped like her doodles in her notebook. Uneven lines. Badly colored in with red gel ink.
