He’s most certainly in hell.
Yoo Joonghyuk wakes up after dying in his 1,863rd regression, except he's not on subway cabin 3707.
Instead, he's somehow in Kim Dokja's apartment. Of course, he thinks he's in hell.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to show his face in media-well, yes he didn’t, but it wasn’t all. He also couldn’t face the crowd, couldn’t face whoever recognized him outside of those curated and well-secured settings.
Couldn’t face himself after fooling everyone into thinking he was worth anything it—worth looking forward to, worth looking up to, worth appreciating and loving. He didn’t deserve it. None of the appreciation, none of the praise and love and recognition would wash him of his sins, the stickiness on his hands and his matted hair will remain as they had been all those years ago.

Along the way, he met Kurosawa, unintentionally gave him some life-changing advice, and gained his first fan. Through chance, they meet again for the filming of a dance show on TV, and Kurosawa is determined to ensure that this will not be the last time they meet.
