Summary
Then
Margaret and Philip Buckley did not want to raise children well into their forties. That's why they had Maddie and Daniel when they did. While they did plan to have Evan, in the moment, they didn't think of how it would mess up the rest of their life plans. So, when Maddie left for college, they decided sending Evan to the Army and Navy Academy in California would be for the best. Little did they know that this was one of the best things they could do for their youngest child, because not long into his second semester, he ran into Admiral Tom "Iceman" Kazansky.
Now
Buck did not think he would ever go back to the Navy. Not after that last disastrous mission. Not after he found a new team and family in LA. Not after he started to put down roots. But Buck never thought someone would plant a bomb on a fire truck. He never thought he would be at ground zero of a tsunami. He never thought he would have to fight for his job or that others would become bitter and hateful about him trying to get back to work.
So when he gets a call from his Pops that he's needed down at Top Gun. Well, it's not like he's doing much with the 118 now, and it's not like he could say no to the COMPACFLT anyway...

Summary
Eddie is thrown in to the deep end on his second shift at the 118, when an earthquake hits lower Los Angeles.
It is at a collapsing Heat House that he encounters a pregnant, heat-crazed, male omega, who kicks and fights with all he has as Eddie attempts to rescue him. Buck.
Six months later, the US government starts a campaign to provide decorated war veterans with a fully trained and submissive omega, and Eddie is left shocked to find a far more docile- and notably babyless- Buck kneeling at his front door.

Summary
“You don’t have to,” Buck says quickly. “You could just leave it. Don’t look.”
Eddie glances up at him, and they both know without saying it that he isn’t going to let this go.
There’s no way he can look away now, not after seeing the way Buck reacted.
“Or maybe just not now,” Buck says softly, stepping closer, his hand settling gently over the screen like he can shield Eddie from what’s on it. “Maybe leave it for now. You’re not… Eddie, you’re not doing well right now. I’ve been so worried about you and this—” his voice catches, “—you… Eddie, please don’t. Just leave it.”
It stings to hear the worry out loud, even if he knew it was there.
He wants to do what Buck says, he wants to trust his friend and give him what he’s asking.
Buck never asks for anything.
Eddie moves Buck’s hand aside gently, giving it a brief squeeze. “Can’t do that, Buck.”
Or; After Christopher leaves for El Paso, Buck decides that he and Eddie should trace their family trees to keep Eddie’s mind occupied elsewhere. The results lead Eddie to face a family secret.

Summary
Buck held the little plastic bird close in front of his eyes, twisting it back and forth.
“You can say it, Buck,” Eddie encouraged, quietly. “To put it out there in… the universe. And you’ll see her tomorrow, anyway.”
“I think…” Buck took a huge breath, breathing deep into his chest, past the hurt, past the hard rock of anxiety that sat at its center, past the tears welling in his eyes; he aimed all of it back out, straight into the heart of the deep, deep universe.
“I think I met my daughter tonight.”
or;
A work of fate or God or man or the universe crosses the paths of Buck and a small, green-eyed girl with a bird in her palm and the future in her snaggle-toothed grin. Two and a half years after the events of Lighthouse, the Diazes become the Diazes.
