"Genius runs in the family, his brother used to joke, but Gavin always chalks it up to the fact that spending any amount of time with Elijah will always end up turning into an impromptu crash-course on all things android. After all these years, all these years listening to Elijah ramble on and on while drunk on whiteclaws, Gavin knew he was more well-versed on all things android than a regular cop was supposed to be.
What he doesn’t know, though, is if Elijah meant to embed his essence into every android, but there’s nothing Gavin knows better than his own brother. So when Gavin looks at an android, he doesn’t see their model. All he sees is Elijah staring back at him, his cool blue eyes staring right into Gavin’s soul, his image imprinted onto each and every droid.
And maybe that’s what unsettles him about the android out front. Pretty brown doe-eyes and curled hair with everything about Elijah that makes his skin crawl right underneath those synthetic freckles."

"Noel met her in the Youtube comments section of some blurry, lagging slideshow of 1940s Paris aesthetic, overlaid with a low-quality rendition of Edith Piaf’s La Vie en Rose.
The video itself wasn’t anything special——it was actually pretty shitty and poorly made, looking back on it. To be honest, Noel probably wouldn’t have remembered it at all if it weren’t for her. Right at the bottom, the only comment on the video, saying very cool video!! your editing is very Bad!!
He replied to the comment, simply saying you tell them, girl!! and promptly shutting off his laptop and going to sleep."

They’ll sit in the rain for the 45-minute drive from the mall to Uranium, maybe even longer because the rains make the roads all slippery and Mischa is always more careful driving when there are other people in the car. Because he’s sweet like that, to Noel’s absolute dismay."

She didn’t acknowledge how Noel was definitely crying as he watched Uranium get bigger and bigger as they descended, and didn’t let go of his hand until they were almost at the very bottom to reach into her pocket and offer him a patchwork handkerchief that smelled faintly of CBD oil to wipe his tears. She never said a word to him."
