    Den drei ??? werden ominöse und noch dazu verschlüsselte Briefe auf anonyme Weise zugespielt, deren enthaltene Hinweise sie in einen verzwickten, komplizierten Fall führen. Zwielichtige Personen, rästelhafte Spuren und undurchsichtige Zusammenhänge stellen Justus, Peter und Bob auf die Probe und leiten sie zu einem vermeintlichen Verbrechen, dass nur der Schein von etwas viel Größerem ist. Und wäre ein ungeahnt gefährlich werdender Fall auch noch nicht genug scheinen Bob und Peter sich immer näher zu kommen, nachdem Peter jahrelang für Bob unereichbar war und er sich mit seiner heimlichen Liebe zu seinem besten Freund herumschlagen musste.

    Inmitten dieses verwirrenden Spiels aus Geheimnissen und Gefühlen wird es zunehmend schwerer den Überblick zu behalten. Doch als es scheint, als seien die drei Detektive kurz vor der Auflösung des Falles, kommt es zu einer tragischen Wendung, die alles zusammenstürzen lässt...
